Kolveniershuis
King Christian was an enthusiastic hunter.
His brother-in-law Charles V first wanted to accommodate him at his hunting lodge in Genappe but feared that his guest would exterminate all the wildlife there.
However, even in Lier, the "Red King" was constantly out hunting. He was an excellent shot, both with a crossbow and a rifle. He joined the local shooting association and took part in their competitions.
On 15 May 1525 Christian received another crown: that of Shooter King of the Lier Kolveniers.
The Solveniers, or fire arms shooters, had their headquarters here. Christian's banner was said to have been on display until the 18the century, when it was stolen by French troops.
