The historic town hall used to be the Cloth Hall. In the 15th century, the Cloth Hall was transferred to the Butchers' Hall.
In 1740, the building was comprehensively rebuilt in Brabant rococo style. It was designed as a large mansion with a basement and the Gothic Belfry was integrated into the structure.
The wrought-iron fence on the facade was forged in 1745 and restored by Louis van Boeckel in 1890.
On the facade, a rosette indicates the sea level: 6 m.
Unique features inside include the decorative oak spiral staircase and the works of art by Louis van Boeckel.
On the left is the former council chamber, the current information office of Visit Lier. Be sure to look upwards when you take a look inside. The ceiling paintings represent the victory of good over evil.The other room on the first floor is used as a wedding room.
